What is your appointment policy?

To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time. We ask you to please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. This allows us time to collect information about you and your pet, so that you may be seen on time. A new client form is available on-line, should you choose to complete it ahead of time.

For your convenience, "drop-off" appointments are available. A "drop off" means you could bring your pet in and leave him/her with us for the day. Usually we will ask you to drop off your pet sometime in the morning so our doctors can examine the patient in between appointments or at the time purposely reserved for admitted patients. Once the doctor is done, we will give you a call to go over the diagnosis and to give you discharge instructions.

We make every effort to make our patients feel comfortable during visits. However, they may be a little uneasy about new people, new surroundings and other pets. This is one of the reasons we ask you to restrain your pet. We recommend that animals be placed on a leash or in pet carriers before entering the waiting room.

Do I have to bring my medical records from my previous clinic?

We can attempt to fax of your signed consent to your previous clinic. However, we have had some problems with this in the past with certain clinics. This allows us to focus on providing the highest quality of care for our patients and the best service for clients. Acceptable forms of payment include: cash, local check or credit card. Applying for Care Credit is similar to applying for a credit card, but specifically for your pet\'s health care. There are several options to be considered. Most owners view their pets as members of the family and expect the best medical care available. Serious illness often occurs when least expected. Owners are often unprepared to handle these situations. If you plan ahead, pet health insurance may be helpful in preventing financial limitations from dictating the level of care for your pet.

Pet health insurance is not like personal medical insurance for humans. The relationship exists between the owner (you) and the pet insurance company and NOT between the insurance company and the veterinary clinic. This means that you pay the veterinary bill at the time of service, just like before. You then submit the claim to the insurance company, who issues a reimbursement after the deductible or co-pay is met. This ensures that the pet insurance company does not dictate to the veterinarian which diagnostic tests to perform or treatment options to choose.

There are no networks or HMOs to deal with when using pet insurance. Owners can visit any veterinarian, emergency facility, or specialist they choose. Typically, insurance companies cover up to eighty percent of the medical bill. Some insurance companies offer discounts for multiple pets. Make sure that you plan ahead, as there is typically a waiting period of a few days to weeks before the policy goes into effect.
